Cucina Angelina

'ITALIAN- INFLUENCED MOUNTAIN FOOD'

Angela Hartnett, one of the UK’s most loved chefs and restaurateurs, has taken to the slopes of Courchevel with Cucina Angelina, our restaurant at Portetta!

The first of its kind in Courchevel Moriond, Cucina Angelina serves Italian influenced mountain food with a nod to local Savoyard and French classics.

We have a passion for good, honest and simple food, using the very best ingredients we can get our hands on. Inspired by her Italian heritage, childhood memories of cooking alongside her Nonna and her love of authentic northern-Italian food, Angela’s menu is full of traditional Italian favourites, as well as daily specials and the best fresh handmade pasta in the Three Vallees, made fresh in-house everyday, using the best quality flour.

“For me it’s about really good, simple, tasty food.” - Angela Hartnett

From farm, field, and sea, every producer and supplier we work with is carefully chosen to bring only the finest ingredients to your plate. Vegetables arrive daily from a market just outside Paris, fish comes fresh from the French coast, and veal is sourced from Le Praz, just ten minutes from Portetta.

Our beef comes directly from Hannan Meats in Ireland, dry-aged to perfection in Himalayan Salt Chambers for 28–45 days. This process intensifies the natural flavours, locks in the juices, and purifies the air, resulting in rich, sweet, and award-winning beef. We then chargrill each cut over wood on our open grill, right in the heart of the restaurant.

Cucina Angelina reflects Portetta’s relaxed, casual style with a touch of rustic mountain chic. Expect textured, reclaimed wood and stone underfoot, warm-toned leather chairs, oversized banquette sofas with cosy fabrics, and rich, inviting colours. The perfect apres-ski retreat!

“That’s the beauty of Italian food, when you’ve got such beautiful, tasty, delicious ingredients, you don’t have to mess around with them, just really use the best of the best.”

Meet Angela Hartnett

Angela Hartnett is one of the UK’s most celebrated chefs and restaurateurs. She trained under Gordon Ramsay at Aubergine before joining Marcus Wareing, where she quickly rose to become Head Chef at Pétrus. Angela earned her first Michelin star in 2004 and went on to launch Murano in Mayfair in 2008. In 2012, she partnered with Lime Wood’s Head Chef Luke Holder to open Hartnett Holder & Co at our sister hotel, Lime Wood in the New Forest.

The following year, Angela opened her first Café Murano, a casual, brasserie-style sister to Murano, and went on to open two more by 2019. In 2015, she joined the team at Portetta, where she now oversees the kitchen at Cucina Angelina.

Her signature style is simple yet sophisticated Italian cooking, a passion inspired by the flavours and traditions passed down from her Italian grandmother and mother.

"I come from a family that always liked food and food was always part of our lives… We always ate together as a family and cooked together so it was something I grew up with from both sides - my mum and my dad's. I was taught to cook by my grandmother and my mother.”
