Situated in prime position at the foot of the slopes of Courchevel Moriond (1650), Portetta Hotel, Portetta Lofts and the Portetta Mountain Lodges are the perfect base for the ultimate ski experience, and form part of the Lime Wood Group; a personal collection of fine small luxury lifestyle hotels, restaurants, and lodges where our focus is on authenticity and informality of design, food and service.

Starting in 2009 with the opening of Lime Wood, in the New Forest National Park, in the UK, we set about creating something a little bit different. We want our guests to feel at home wherever they are, from the peaceful New Forest, to the breathtaking mountain scenery of Courchevel Moriond

Re-designed, rebuilt and fully refurbished, Portetta is the ideal mountain retreat. Accredited with a French 4 Star rating, this family friendly, ski-in ski-out hotel offers thirty-eight luxuriously cosy rooms all overlooking either the piste or the mountain, as well as six stylish fully equipped duplex lofts on the top two floors which have balconies, open log fires and stunning views over Courchevel Moriond and beyond.

The Portetta Mountain Lodges are our four luxury mountain lodges, nestled in the trees high about Courchevel Moriond and are right on the piste; set apart in beautiful seclusion but still within easy reach of everything you need!

Live Well

Inviting fire places, settle-in sofas and impeccable service, Portetta has an individual charm that will entice guests back time and time again. Its stylish oak interiors give a warm and intimate feel whilst remaining elegantly luxurious.

Eat Well

Skiing is not just about hitting the slopes but also about eating well...long lunches and indulgent evening feasts. The food at Portetta is a combination of classic and modern French & Italian cuisine using fresh locally sourced ingredients. The menus change seasonally and even daily, so guests can always try something new. Portetta's position means that guests can ski straight out from the hotel's Fire & Ice terrace on to the slopes of the French Alps and be back in time for an alfresco lunch in the sun. Fire & Ice is a great meeting place for après ski, with its wood-fired pizza oven and range of ice shots and the lobby lounge and bar provide an informal place to meet and eat throughout the day.

Feel Well

After a day on the slopes guests can relax, revive and rejuvenate in the hotel's spa - heavenly treatments, a decadent hammam and sauna will ease those aching muscles.

Sleep Well

Whether you're after a view of the piste or the mountains all the rooms at Portetta have been designed with cosy luxury in mind. Beds are made up with fresh cotton sheets and deep fluffy duvets and pillows ensuring tired skiers have the best nights sleep, awaking recharged for a new skiing day.

Escape Well

For those who want seclusion and space the luxurious lofts are designed to fit all lifestyles. These stylish and fully equipped lofts are self contained with the use of all the hotels facilities - sleeping up to six people, perfect for friends, groups and families. 


Portetta Hotel has been in existence for the past 30 years. However in 2008 it was gutted and rebuilt from scratch, increasing its size and adding to the range of facilities offer.

Portetta re-opened in 2008 with 38 luxury rooms and 6 stunning lofts as well as a beautiful Spa with a wide range of treatments.

Meaningful Change

At the beginning of lockdown (March 2020) we saw our industry friends respond to lockdown measures with creativity and impressive speed. In a heartbeat we saw meals rustled up for the NHS by Michelin starred chefs, videos on how to create a kitchen garden in your one-bed London flat - the list goes on. We watched with pride at being a part of such a creative industry. Out of seeing our colleagues' creative flair, In the GROW (THE PIG, UK) and Lime Wood Lowdown (Lime Wood, UK) was born. This PIG and Lime Wood newsletter's are light and informative reads that have been very well received by our loyal audience. We're glad we took our time to get it right.

Over the past few weeks we've watched some of our industry friends respond to racism issues. Again they show great adeptness of thought and action and some of the most cherished voices in the hospitality sector have made valuable headway in escalating certain matters to the top of the agenda. At THE PIGs and Lime Wood, after mobilising 750 members of staff to open our hotels on 4th July, we now feel ready to consolidate our collective thoughts.

We all have a part to play in meaningful change but recognise that simply repeating a slogan is not enough. Like so many we do not know the answers yet but by listening to others and educating ourselves we have a far greater chance of having a lasting impact. If this has taught us anything it is that change happens when enough people engage. We feel that one way to achieve the greatest impact is to engage with our team in a considered way on this subject. We employ nearly 1,000 people and by starting the dialogue with them we start something that has sincerity, structure and kindness. As we always say, we are not perfect, we will keep trying to be the best that we can be.
